Cosmetic
Surgery
For Men
It didn't take
men too long to discover that they could also benefit from the
wonders of cosmetic surgery. Men are turning
to cosmetic surgery in record numbers. According to the American
Academy of Cosmetic Surgery,
more than 700,000 cosmetic procedures are performed on men each
year.
Diet and
exercise can't always take care of those "love handles", and
fatty chest and stomach. Your reasons for choosing to have
liposuction may be as simple as wanting to look better at the
beach or at that important business meeting. Although
cosmetic surgery is not a replacement for a healthy lifestyle, it can help
you look and feel better about yourself.
Why do men choose
cosmetic surgery?
- Career
Many men believe that the way that they look can have a
substantial impact on their job and their career. Older
male professionals want the confidence to compete with their
younger counterparts, and many patients are amazed at the results of a
simple cosmetic procedure.
- Attractiveness
Society places a high value on looking young and fit. Like
women, men are seeking cosmetic surgery to improve the way that they
look and to allow their outer appearance to reflect their inner sense
of strength and well being.
Dr. Dobson regularly sees a
high volume of men for a variety of cosmetic surgery procedures.
Liposuction, particle skin resurfacing, and botox injections are popular
options among the business and iron pumping crowd.
The myth that cosmetic surgery may not be the "masculine" thing
to do has almost faded away as men explore their many options to having a
more attractive body.
What procedures
are men choosing? The
"ideal" male body shape is trim and athletic looking, with broad
shoulders and chest, a flat abdomen and narrow hips. As men age, fat
tends to accumulate in the abdomen, flanks ("love handles") and
sometimes in the breast area.
- Liposuction
Liposuction is the most popular cosmetic procedure among
men. Dr. Dobson offers
his clients the most advanced state-of-the-art techniques including Tumescent
and Ultrasonic liposuction, designed for the removal of unwanted
fat cells. Liposuction is performed most often on men's
abdominal area and "love handles". Read more about Liposuction.
- Gynecomastia
Gynecomastia describes the enlargement of the male breast.
This common condition affects as many as 40 percent of men.
Liposuction is a corrective procedure which can reduce the size of the
male breast, restoring a more natural appearance.
- Pectoral
Implants
Pectoral implants are cosmetic chest wall implants designed to enhance the chest.
Average males, bodybuilders, and patients with chest abnormalities use pectoral implants about equally.
Pectoral implants are inserted through an axillary incision and are held in place by the overlying pectoralis muscle.
Patients who have Poland Syndrome, a congenital abnormality of the chest in which there is an absence of the pectoralis major and minor
muscles are also candidates for pectoral implants.

Particle
Skin Resurfacing, PSR
Most of us have always desired smoother, younger looking
skin. Sun damage, aging, wrinkles, acne, or scars detract from
the natural surface of our skin. Particle Skin Resurfacing,
also known as microdermabrasion, can improve many signs
of aging and scars. Read more about PSR.
