Particle Skin Resurfacing
The New Skin Restoration Procedure

Most of us have always desired smoother, younger looking skin, but were not willing to endure chemical and laser peels, often painful procedures with long periods of recuperation.  The FDA cleared for sale the Particle Skin Resurfacing procedure, PSR or microdermabrasion,  in 1997.   After almost nine years of successfully treating Europeans for a number of skin conditions, PSR is finally here in America.

The Dallas Fort Worth Institute of Body Sculpturing offers this non-invasive, non-surgical, non-chemical out patient procedure to our patients.

Common Treatment Conditions

  • Blackheads and Whiteheads
  • Fine Wrinkles
  • Sun Damaged Skin
  • Acne Prone Skin
  • Superficial Age Spots
  • Oily Skin
  • Neck & Décolleté (post laser blending)
  • Superficial Age Spots

The PSR Procedure

The PSR procedure acts to remove the outer layer of skin in a highly controlled manner.  Because of its preciseness, it is painless.  This process when repeated multiple times, allows the younger softer skin to move to the surface, promoting beauty enhancement with discernible changes in texture, color and appearance.

Many practitioners recommend that Particle Skin Resurfacing is the first step in skin restoration, and that the laser be applied secondarily to only those isolated effected areas.

Benefits of Particle Skin Resurfacing

  • Little pain or discomfort
  • No recuperative period
  • Minimal risk
  • Treats all skin types
  • No anesthesia
  • No down time
  • Quick, gentle and affordable

The Process - How It Works

PSR is achieved using a highly controlled spray of fine sodium bicarbonate crystals, (one hundred microns in size), under pressure and vacuum.  The crystals literally "erase" the imperfections and sun damage, without damaging the skin's integrity.  The results:  a smoother, more youthful appearance.

A normal procedure should take 20-30 minutes, depending upon the skin condition, the area to be treated and the desired outcome.  Patients will notice immediate improvement in the texture and appearance of their skin after the first treatment.  The average patient requires between 5-9 treatments, spaced approximately one week apart.

Are you a candidate for PSR?

Dr. Dobson can best evaluate your skin condition and make recommendations as to whether you are a candidate for PSR.  A complete consultation with a recommended treatment plan will be designed for you specifically.  This will include the specified number of treatments and the time intervals between each treatment.   Any issues or concerns you have will be discussed.  You may request a sample of the Particle Skin Resurfacing treatment be offered on your hand, to validate its effectiveness and that it is painless.

Patients that are in good general health, posses proper skin tone and a desire for realistic results are excellent candidates for PSR.   Realistic results include reducing or eliminating fine lines, wrinkles, unwanted pigmentation and other superficial skin damage caused by aging or sun exposure.
